The MACBA, Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, is not only famous for its awe-inspiring expositions. Located in Ravel just off La Rambla and near the central Catalunya square, the building itself is a must-see for its architecture. It is a huge white mass of a building, designed by Richard Meier, which combines elements of contemporary American architecture with the Mediterranean rationalist tradition.

Open to the public since 1995, MACBA shows a permanent collection donated by Catalonia's other great artistic institutions, made up of work produced over the last 50 years. The museum organizes regular temporary exhibitions featuring contemporary Spanish and foreign artists as well as lectures, concerts, seminars and audiovisual competitions. Normal Admission: EUR 7.5

In the summer, MACBA is open at night with an outdoor bar and terrace. Visit the museum for only €3.50 from 8pm-12am from May-September. Afterward, enjoy a drink while watching the sunset and chatting over the amazing artwork.
