Situated in the heart of the Ramblas of Barcelona, the Erotic Museum opened its doors with the objective of becoming both an educational and recreational centre by focusing on the subject of eroticism; a classic theme in the history and culture of humanity.
The Erotic Museum of Barcelona is the first erotic art and culture museum where you are able to contemplate the development of eroticism across the diverse fields of art and culture in society from an anthropological, archaeological and literary point of view, amongst others. The museum exhibits more than 800 pieces which have a great historical value and display a wide range of different cultures in their expression of eroticism in a religious and recreational way. We demonstrate the importance of eroticism throughout history, from the Greek and Roman times until the 1920s. Finally the museum exhibits great pieces of Asian art and also displays contemporary erotic pieces by famous international artists.
